The Second Round Story

Second Round Bakery officially launched in Ruston, Louisiana in 2021.  The idea, however, had been growing since 2018 when Emily thought she was going to get cut from the rowing team.  She decided if she could not row, she might as well start a bakery and named it Second Round, since rowing was the "first round".

It turns out Emily made the team that year so Second Round Bakery went back into being a "down the road" dream.  After marrying Jim and retiring from rowing, however, that bakery became reality in the form of a cottage business.  Second Round could be found at the local farmers' market, making deliveries around town, and catering events.

Now we have taken another step in Second Round's story and have opened an online store.  We can finally sell to our friends and fans around the country!  It is one of our favorite things to learn about someone discovering their love for our cookies, so we hope to bring more sweetness to even more people as we share Second Round Bakery once again!

Our Recipes

Emily began baking at a very young age.  In high school, she started building her chocolate chip cookie recipe.  As she learned about quality ingredients like real butter and vanilla, she added them to her cookies.  Thankfully, she always had roommates and teammates around to help eliminate one round of cookies so she could move on to the next!​

Most of our recipes were created this way: trial and error over several years, adding quality ingredients until the taste and texture were just right.  When you order a Second Round baked good, you get a product developed from a love of baking and filled with intentionality.
